"Building a Culture of Positive Behavior Support"

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Rachel Freeman.

Rachel Freeman is the Project Director of the Kansas Mental Health & Positive Behavior Support Statewide Project and the Kansas Institute for Positive Behavior Support, an Associate Research Professor at the Life Span Institute in the University of Kansas (KU), and an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Special Education at KU. 

Dr. Freeman has served as President for the Association for Positive Behavior Support for three years (www.apbs.org) and has been a board member for nine years. Rachel Freeman works with state, regional, and local PBS teams interested in wide-scale dissemination of PBS within an interagency framework, and provides school-wide positive behavior support (SWPBS) technical assistance to districts and schools. She also has experience working in residential and vocational settings supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). 

Dr. Freeman's early job experiences in the IDD field included direct support staff member, acting home manager, and behavior specialist. Her re-search interests include interagency statewide planning, organization-wide and SWPBS, online instruction and staff development systems, and research related to children and adults with developmental disabilities including self-injury, self-restraint, and biobehavioral assessment.
